An easy and ready to go afternoon activity. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process, where an emulsion is painted on paper and placed in the sun to aid exposure to produce a rich cyan-blue print. This kit includes 12 sheets of 10x15cm watercolour paper, pre-coated with cyanotype sensitising solution as well as instructions. I hand cut and paint the paper for you with the cyanotype solution, therefore each sheet of paper will be painted a little different. The process is simple, on a bright and sunny day, collect your plant matter that you wish to print, arrange them on the paper, place a sheet of glass on top, to keep wind from moving it, and place it in a sunny spot. Watch your paper change colour in the sun's uv rays. When it turns grey colour its ready. Place the paper in a tub of water and watch it turn blue. Place the paper inside to let it dry. You can then frame these pieces of art or make them into a card.

Nature's canvas

Everytime we go for a walk around our leafy neighbourhood, we take a couple of paint pens and see what creations we can make. Little people are so delighted to give complete strangers a painted rock or pine cone. And complete strangers always melt just a little when a beaming child hands them their lovingly made nature creation. Look for Life of Colour Paint Pens in our product range.
